German national team is saying goodbye. Czech Open was a wake-up call for us
The result was not probably important for Team Germany. According to coach Simon Brechbühler, who comes from Switzerland, it was more important for players to get used to fast and modern floorball. "For us, it was a wake-up call. We have a lot of young players who don't practice regularly in the summer. Often, they are not used to play on standard rink and some play only with men. Here we could practice fast passing, playing with body, fast shooting. It is a good preparation for the World Championship."
There, they will probably fight for the quarterfinal. Floorball is not developing in Germany as fast as in some other countries. "The number of players is increasing every year, but the structures remain the same. For example, Slovakia is improving much faster than we are. Germany is big country and floorball is secondary sport. The problem is, that Germany is not a hockey country, unlike Switzerland or Czech Republic," he explains.
Well, let's wish Germans good luck at the World Championship. Hope the experience from Czech Open will be valid form them.
